Port Townsend is uniquely nestled amid one of the most diverse food source bioregions in the world. The city is surrounded by abundant seafood and an agricultural community that’s been actively producing foods for the Pacific Northwest and around the world for nearly 150 years. Jefferson County is home to dozens of farms offering produce, grains, meat, flowers, and other value-added items.
Here in Port Townsend, farmers are rock stars.
Our local fish, oysters, clams, mussels, and crab are legendary, and sought after by chefs worldwide. Stop by the Food Co-op on your way downtown, where many of our local farms and food producers are featured, or visit the Jefferson County Farmer’s Market in Uptown on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.
If food systems and resilience are passions of yours, learn about the Organic Seed Alliance’s mission to cultivate lost heirloom varietals, bringing produce like purple sprouted broccoli back to production in partnership with local farms to be sold to area restaurants and food producers.
Stop by Port Townsend Vineyards’ downtown wine plaza for a nice chilled rose on a beautiful sunny afternoon, or enjoy a pint of Port Townsend Brewing’s many beers at their tasting room in Boat Haven or in one of our many restaurants, pubs and bars located within the District.
There’s something for every foodie in Port Townsend.
