Building connections in support of Port Townsend’s vibrant cultural sector
The City of Port Townsend is proud to be the new home of the Port Townsend Creative District! Creative Districts are areas in towns and cities across the state whose identity and community have a special connection to the arts. The Washington State Arts Commission created the program to help provide visibility and support for the artists and creative economy in these places.
Each Creative District chooses its own activities and focus. Port Townsend defined six artistic disciplines so that a wide breadth of the creative community has a stake in the work of the district. Its primary goal is to support a thriving year-round economy for artists. The geographic footprint includes areas of concentrated commercial and creative activity, but the resources of the Creative District are designed to serve the whole community.

Soundcheck is a wintertime weekend of participatory, artist-driven events and experiences that highlight Port Townsend’s rich creative spirit.

From 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on first Saturdays throughout the year, local galleries and venues put on special exhibitions featuring local artists.
Connect at Nexus
Come meet other local artists at this casual meetup and conversation from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday, January-October, at a new location each month.
Visit the Help Desk
Every Thursday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the PT Public Library, artists of all kinds are invited to come by with their questions and projects.
