Makers Arts

Art takes many forms, and not all of them can be easily categorized. We want to honor these makers who specialize in other mediums and create art for other uses – some of them functional, some of them more esoteric or intangible. Pottery; metalworking & fabrication; handmade furniture and coopering; digital art, web and graphic design; robotics; wooden boat, canoe and kayak building; architecture & 3D printing; cosmetic and fragrance arts; musical instruments; and clothing design – these are just a few of the many forms of makers you’ll find in Port Townsend. The Port Townsend Wearable Art show is one of our more treasured events featuring these makers – visit www.ptwearableart.com to learn more.

The Port Townsend School of Woodworking, located in Fort Worden, has been inspiring artists and teaching traditional, hand-tooled woodworking for more than 25 years. Visit www.ptwoodschool.org to learn more about their classes and workshops. Fort Worden’s new Maker’s Square project offers classroom and shop space to Fort Worden Partners and other organizations looking for additional studio and workspaces – watch for news about this new development, which also houses the new studios for KPTZ Radio Port Townsend, in the coming years.
