Port Townsend, with its stunning landscapes, exquisite Victorian architecture, and bustling summer activity, is full of plein air possibilities. For the nature lover, Chetzemoka Park boasts beautiful gardens and panoramic views of Puget Sound. For a more secluded painting adventure, Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park, with its tranquil lagoon and surrounding wildlife, provides a natural sanctuary. If a more urban setting wets your brush, the lively waterfront offers dynamic views of boats, piers, and marine life, while Uptown’s quaint shops and Saturday farmers market present charming scenes of commerce and community.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just beginning your plein air painting or sketching adventure, our Victorian seaport town offers endless inspiration and a variety of resources. Here’s your guide to making the most of plein air painting right here in Port Townsend.

- Make sure you have all your supplies including paints, palette, brushes, board, water vessel, etc.
